what you need
- Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 stick butter
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 cup flaked coconut
make it
Mix crust ingredients with fingers or pastry cutter till crumbly. Pat into 9x13 pan. Bake 10 minutes 375°F oven.
Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Return to oven 1 minute. Spread melted chocolate evenly over crust. Set aside.
In med. bowl beat eggs till thick and lemon colored. Beat in sugar and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt and beat into sugar mixture. Stir in coconut. Spread over chocolate mixture.
Bake 15 to 20 minutes until finger doesn't make a dent. Cool in pan. Cut into bars. (I found a pizza cutter works best.)
Notes
I got this recipe from a C&H Dark Brown Sugar bag.
Have had rave reports from those eating the bars!
