- Brownie Layer:
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 cup chopped walnut (optional)
- Cookie Dough Layer
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup chocolate chips

Brownie Layer---
1. Melt chocolate chips and cool slightly; set aside. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Stir in melted chocolate. Combine flour and baking soda; add to batter; stir in nuts.
2. Spread in greased 13in x 9in pan.
3. Bake at 350 degrees F for 16-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted near centre comes out clean. Cool on wire rack.
Cookie Dough Layer---
1. Cream butter and sugars. Beat in milk and vanilla. Gradually add flour. Stir in chocolate chips.
2. Drop by tablespoonfuls over cooled brownies; carefully spread over top. Store in refrigerator.
Notes
If you are short on time use brownie mix and make the cookie dough part while the brownies are cooking. Even if you have plenty of time make the cookie dough part while the brownies are cooking because you really don’t need the cookie dough part until the brownies are cool.
