what you need
- 1 can (10.75-ounce) cream of mushroom soup, divided
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup water
make it
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix 1/2 can of soup with dry onion soup mix, ground beef, dry bread crumbs and egg. Press firmly into a baking dish.
2. Bake for 1 1/4 hours, or until done. Drain, reserving 2 tablespoons of the drippings.
3. In a saucepan, combine remaining soup, water and reserved drippings. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, just long enough to heat it up, should be no more than 5 minutes. Spoon gravy over individual servings of meatloaf.
Notes
The leftovers are very good as meatloaf sandwiches.
