what you need
- 6-8 slices bacon
- 4 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. Splenda or sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 4 cups, roughly, any leafy green lettuce, washed, dried, & chopped (Boston, bib, leaf, mesclun mix, spring mix, etc.)
- 4--6 green onions, washed & chopped
make it
Fry bacon in skillet. When bacon is done remove it from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Set aside.
With bacon grease still hot (right after removing the bacon or reheat bacon grease if needed for timing) add vinegar, Splenda, salt & pepper. Stir till dissolved and remove from heat.
Add lettuce a couple handfuls at a time, using tongs to turn and coat lettuce in dressing, until all lettuce is added. Crumble bacon in bite size pieces and add to lettuce. Add chopped green onions to lettuce and mix all together. Serve immediately.
Notes
This recipe is simple to make but seems to be a forgotten favorite that not many know how or attempt to make....AND it is so yummy!
