what you need
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 Tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 pound ground turkey breast
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 hamburger rolls, split
make it
In a large nonstick skillet, heat the oil. Sauté the onions, peppers, and garlic until softened, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the cumin and chili powder; when the vegetables are coated with the spices, stir in the turkey; cook, breaking apart the meat with a wooden spoon, 3 minutes.
Add the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and salt; cook until the sauce is slightly thickened and the turkey is cooked through, 4-5 minutes.
Toast the rolls, if desired, and top with the turkey mixture.
Notes
This is also great as a pasta meat sauce or add a can of beans and make chili!
