what you need
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 4 cups warm water
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 6 cups whole wheat flour
- 4 cups white flour
- 1/2 cup wheat bran (optional)
- 1/2 cup groats
make it
Mix all but the last 4 ingredients. Stir in flours and grains a few cups at a time. When mixed knead for 7-10 min. Cover and let rise till doubled.
Punch down and let rest 5 min. Shape into 4 loaves or rolls. Let rise covered 1 hour.
Bake at 375°F for 35-40 min.
Notes
A good hearty bread to serve with soup.
I added the wheat bran and groats to the original recipe and the flour amount didn't change. It is still moist. This bread is very good toasted also.
