Makes: 16-20 servings Total Time: 1 hr 30 min

what you need
  • 1 cup Kraft butter or margrine, softened
  • 2-3/4 cups sugar, divided
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (16 oz.) sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
make it
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter & 2 cups sugar till fluffy. Stir in vanilla; add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add to the creamed mixture alternately with sour cream, beating just enough after each addition to keep batter smooth.

Spoon one third of batter into a greased 10-inch tube pan. Combine cinnamon, nuts, and remaining sugar; sprinkle one third over batter in pan. Repeat layers two more times.

Bake at 350 degrees for 70 minutes or till cake tests done. Cool for 10 minutes. Remove from pan to a wire rack to cool completely.
This cake is good for breakfast.

I serve it to my family on Sundays or even on holidays.

Rated  by lantz55 on 3/9/2012 I put this recipe in a regular cake pan and was done in about 1/2 hour. Excellent taste, but a little dry. Very crumbly. Thinking of maybe adding some applesause to make a little moister. First time making a coffee cake. Thanks for the great recipe.
