Makes: 8 servings Total Time: 50 min
Category: Desserts Sub Category: Cakes

what you need
  • 1 box yellow or white cake mix (following instructions for ingredients on box)
  • 1-1/2 cans white frosting mix
  • 2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 can fruit pie filling
  • 1 cup chopped nuts of your choice
make it
Mix cake according to box instructions. Pour into tube pan or bundt pan. Cool cake for 10 minutes and then remove from pan. Let cool a few more minutes before frosting.

Frosting: to the canned frosting add the cocoa, cinnamon and vanilla. Mix well.

Split cake in half. Spread 1/2 cup of frosting on bottom layer. Add top layer. Fill hole with pie filling. Frost top layer. Sprinkle or pat nuts over the cake.
I haven't tried it yet, but I think coffee added to the frosting would be very tasty. In place of the cinnamon you could use nutmeg also.
