what you need
- 1 pkg. (14 oz.) caramels
- 2/3 cup evaporated milk, divided
- 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
- 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 cup nuts, chopped
- 1 pkg. (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
make it
Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 13"x9" pan. In a saucepan, melt the caramels and 1/3 cup of the evaporated milk.
In a large bowl, mix the cake mix, remaining 1/3 cup of evaporated milk, melted butter, vanilla and nuts. Pour half of the cake mixture into the pan. Bake for 6 minutes.
Remove cake from the oven. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and pour caramel over the top. Cover with remaining cake mixture. Bake 25 minutes. Cool completely before cutting.
