Makes: 6 cups Total Time: 35 min
Category: Appetizers Sub Category: Hot Dips

what you need
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1 box Velveeta Mexican Cheese, cubed
  • 1 jar (8 oz.) salsa
  • 1 cup shredding cheese (optional)
  • 1 bag Tortilla Scoops or Fritos Scoops
make it
Brown ground beef in large skillet on medium heat, then drain fat. Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water (amount is designated on the back of the taco seasoning mix packet). Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

While that is simmering, cube up the Velveeta Mexican Cheese. Doing so makes it easier to melt into the taco mixture. Add Velveeta along with the jar of salsa to the mixture, stirring to coat everything. Once everything is melted and mixed well, add the shredded cheese (optional). I add the shredded cheese to thickness the dip up a bit more.

Once completed, place in a crock-pot to keep it warm as you enjoy.
