Makes: 8 servings Total Time: 3 hr
Category: Appetizers Sub Category: Other Hot Appetizers

what you need
  • 1 stick butter
  • 12 oz.+ hot sauce (we use Durkee's red hot)
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. cayenne (red) pepper (for mild)
  • Fresh chicken wings (about 1 1/4 lb. per person)
  • Ranch Dressing
make it
Melt butter and pour in the bottle of hot sauce and blend. Add onion and garlic powders.
For mild wings add 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne, or more for hotter Wings. Hot sauce should be kept warm while the wings are cooking, but should not boil or even simmer.

Place wings in oven preheated to 350 degrees F for 25 minutes.

When done, combine with hot sauce and bake for another 20 minutes, stir and baste several times. Serve with ranch dressing as a dipping sauce.

Rated  by a cook on 1/1/2009 Made these for the Rose Bowl game today - we loved them! I used a tad more than the 1/8 tsp of cayenne powder recommended and it was the perfect amount of heat, though I wish there were a way to make the sauce a bit thicker. Will definitely make again, but will experiment with thickening agents.
