Candy Cane Cake

what you need
  • Cake
  • 1 box super moist white cake mix
  • 1/2 tsp. red food coloring
  • 1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
  • Icing
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • Decoration
  • Crushed candy canes

1) Preheat oven to 325°F. Generously grease and flour a 12 cup fluted tube cake pan. Make cake mix as directed on the box. Pour about 2 cups of batter into the pan. Into a small bowl, pour 3/4 cup batter; stir in food coloring and extract. Carefully pour pink batter over white batter in pan. Carefully pour remaining white batter over pink batter.

2) Bake 38-42 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pan, cool completely about 1 hour.

3) In small bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk and vanilla. Stir in additional milk, 1 tsp. at a time until smooth and consistency of thick syrup. Spread glaze over cake, allowing some drizzle down the side. Decorate with crushed candy canes. Store loosely covered at room temp.
