Makes: 2 delicious pies Total Time: 1 hr
Category: Desserts Sub Category: Pies

what you need
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 2 prepared pie shells
make it
Combine all ingredients and stir well.

Pour into ready pie shells.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes (or until it doesn't jiggle when lightly shaken). It will create a beautiful light brown crust on top.
This type of pie is also called an egg custard pie. It is a traditional southern dish and is very rich. I live in Alabama and we make these a lot for family gatherings.

Rated  by tippy13 on 11/26/2008 thank you for this recipe. I have been looking for it a long time. Born and raised in the south I used to make it all the time but then moved to the north and could never find it. Thank you again.
