Cocoa Cream Dream Cake

what you need
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 3 drops red food coloring
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup Breakstone's Sour Cream
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
make it
Sift together flour, baking soda and salt; set aside. Stir together water, cocoa and red food coloring; set aside.

Cream butter, brown sugar and eggs until fluffy. Add dry ingredients and cocoa mixture to creamed mixture. Stir in sour cream and vanilla. Fold in chopped nuts.

Bake at 350 degrees F in greased/floured layer cake pans for 30 minutes.
This cake is moist and has a light chocolate flavor.

My mother made this special cake for my birthdays and frosted it with a fluffy 7-minute frosting - still have wonderful memories of this special cake and those happy family celebrations.
