Makes: a lot Total Time: 1 hr 30 min
Category: Soups/Chilis Sub Category: Chilis

what you need
  • 2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, quartered
  • 1 qt. tomatoes (home-canned or store bought chili-style)
  • 2 cans (12 oz. each) tomato sauce
  • 4 oz. can tomato paste
  • 4 beef bouillon cubes
  • 2 quarts water (8 cups)
  • 2-6 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4-5 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 2-3 cans kidney beans, drained
make it
Brown the ground beef with onion in large skillet; drain.

Add to large pot along with tomatoes, sauce, paste, bouillon cubes & water. Add jalapeno and seasonings. Simmer 30 minutes.

Add kidney beans. Simmer 30 minutes.
Notes
I love to use 1/2 lean ground beef and 1/2 sausage!
Also, this recipe does not have to be spicy - just eliminate the jalapenos and use 3-4 Tbsp. chili powder to taste.
