Doug's Never-Fail Pie Crust

Makes: 8 servings Total Time: 1 hr

what you need
  • 4 cups unsifted flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 3/4 cups solid shortening (not refrigerated, no oil-lard-butter)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon cider or white vinegar
make it
Mix first four ingredients together. Mix well until crumbly.

In small bowl, with fork, beat together: 1/2 cup water, egg, vinegar.

Combine the two mixtures. Divide in 5 portions in flat patties, ready for rolling.

Wrap each in plastic wrap or wax paper. Chill at least 1/2 hour.

Rated  by sandra63114 on 11/30/2005 never fail pie crust is a great name for this pie crust. i was so surprised when it turned out just great, good and flakey and tastes great too. this is a good pie crust.
