Makes: 6 servings Total Time: 3 hr
Category: Soups/Chilis Sub Category: Soups & Stews

what you need
  • 3.5 to 4 lb. pork loin or pork meat or you can use hamburger
  • Oil
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 quart size bags green chili or 2 quarts frozen green chili
  • 4 large garlic cloves
  • 4 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 6 medium to large potatoes
make it
Brown meat in a frying pan with a little oil and sprinkle about 1 Tbsp. flour on the meat before it is done to make thick. Put the meat in a large pot and set aside.

Peel chili and cut up and add to pot of meat. Add all the spices. Fill the pot with enough water -- 4 inches above meat and chili. Bring to a boil and turn heat to medium high.

While chili and meat are boiling, wash and cube potatoes (you can peel them or not). Add the potatoes to pot after chili and meat have boiled for 45 minutes and boil for 30 minutes or until potatoes are to your liking.
A fresh pot of pinto beans and cornbread and/or tortillas goes good with this.
