Ground Beef Casserole

what you need
  • 2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (optional)
  • 1 medium bell pepper, chopped (optional)
  • 1 bottle (24 oz.) catsup
  • 1 block (8 oz.) cream cheese
  • 1 pkg. (12 oz.) egg noodles
  • 1 pkg. (24 slices) cheese slices
make it
Brown beef, onion, and pepper. Drain off excess grease. Add catsup and cream cheese. Stir until all ingredients are mixed well. Simmer while noodles are cooking according to directions.

Layer in 13x9 dish, layer noodles, mixture, and cheese slices. Continue until all is used up, ending with cheese slices.

Bake in 375 degrees F oven until cheese slices melt.
This can be made without the onion or bell pepper and can be made fat free without hurting the taste of the casserole. Be sure to use Kraft Fat Free Cheese Slices, because they melt properly.

My mama made this casserole for me when I was a child back in the late 50's or early 60's. She got the recipe off of the TV from a Kraft special program during an advertisement.
