Hanovers Brisket

what you need
  • 1 small bottle (5 oz.) soy sauce
  • 1 can consomme beef broth
  • 3-4 Tbsp. liquid smoke
  • 1/4- 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • Garlic to taste (powder or liquid)
  • 1 trimmed brisket, 4-6 lb.
make it
Mix first 5 ingredients in 2 gallon Ziploc bag. Add brisket (force out air) and marinate overnight in fridge.

Discard marinade, place brisket in glass dish and tightly seal with heavy-duty foil.

Bake at 325°F about 4-6 hours. Take meat out and let it rest before cutting into pieces. Serve with favorite BBQ sauce if desired.
Notes
Leftovers make awesome BBQ sandwiches. The lemon juice is the secret to tenderizing the meat so do not use less than 1/4 cup; real or concentrate works fine. Can be cooked in crock-pot if you have one large enough for brisket to lay flat.
