Makes: 10 pieces (?) Total Time: 1 hr 10 min
Category: Desserts Sub Category: Cakes

what you need
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons margarine or butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon MAXWELL HOUSE instant coffee (dry)
  • 1 package chocolate WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS cake mix***
  • Lil red candy hearts, optional
  • Spicy Glaze Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup creamy deluxe chocolate frosting
  • 1/2 teaspoon MAXWELL HOUSE coffee
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
make it
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour** a 12-cup bundt cake pan.*** Mix brown sugar, flour, margarine, cinnamon, and coffee (dry) until crumbly. Set aside. Prepare cake mix as directed on package.

SPREAD about 2 cups cake batter in pan; sprinkle with crumbly spice mixture. Spread remaining batter on top.

BAKE until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 40-45 minutes. Cool 10 minutes; invert on wire rack or heatproof serving plate.**** Remove pan; cool cake completely. Spread with Spicy Glaze, allowing some to drizzle down sides. Decorate with little red cinnamon hearts if you want. Keep frosted cake covered with no-stick foil.

Mix creamy chocolate ready-to-spread frosting,***** MAXWELL HOUSE coffee (dry) and ground cinnamon in a 1-quart saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until glaze is of desired consistency.
This is the ABSOLUTE YUMMIEST CAKE IN THE WORLD. It's easy, it's got a teeny bit of cinnnamon-y taste in a FEW of the bites, it is luscious and slightly mysterious.

***May substitute plain chocolate cake mix and throw in a 12 oz. or 16 oz. bag of chocolate chips

**Grease and flour pan (you GOTTA do both)

***You CAN make it in other pans, but bundt is way better for THIS recipe, so there is the distinct 'wave' of spices thru center.
AND…. ingredients for EASY SPICY GLAZE (below) --do NOT skip this part.

****I cooled it like an hour cuz I forgot, still came out fine)

***** I used whole 16 oz. can of frosting and doubled the spices.

For Valentines Day, divide batter in an 8-inch square and 8-inch circle pan. After cool, remove from pans, place on large plate. Cut circle and put two halves up against square = heart. Frost heavily to hide the cut marks. Decorate with candy hearts.
