what you need
- 1 can French onion soup
- 1 can beef consomme soup
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 4 or 5 shakes of pepper
- 1 empty soup can of raw long grain white rice
- Small amount of water (varies)
make it
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine soups, butter, Worcestershire Sauce and pepper in sauce pan, bring to a boil. Let boil 2 minutes
While soup mixture is heating, pour rice into one of the empty soup cans to measure, and then pour the rice into a 1 1/2 qt. baking dish with cover. Use a small amount of water to rinse rice that may be remaining in the can, as little as possible.
Pour boiling soup over rice, stir once gently, cover, and bake for 30 to 40 minutes.
Notes
Double the recipe, use a rectangular cake pan, top with 6 browned pork chops, cover tightly with foil and bake for same amount of time. Serve this with sweet peas and biscuits and it makes a great winter evening meal (with leftovers for lunch!)
