Mom's Easy Cheesy Lasagna

what you need
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (32 oz.) spaghetti sauce (3-1/2 cups)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 4 oz. (1/2 of 8 oz. pkg.) extra wide lasagna noodles, uncooked
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese or cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 375°F. In 10-inch skillet brown ground beef, onion and garlic; drain. Return beef mixture to skillet, stir in spaghetti sauce and water.

In 13x9 inch baking dish layer one third of sauce mixture, half of uncooked lasagna noodles, half of cottage (or ricotta) cheese, 1/4 cup parmesan cheese and half of mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers, ending with sauce mixture. Cover tightly with foil.

Bake 1 hour. Uncover, sprinkle with remaining parmesan cheese. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
