what you need
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 stalk celery chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 1 pkg. (8 oz.) Philadelphia Cream Cheese
- 3/4 cup Kraft Parmesan Grated Cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups Kraft Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 16 oz. frozen hash brown shredded potatoes
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 cups cubed cooked ham
- Salt and pepper to taste
make it
In medium saucepan melt butter and saute celery, onion and garlic until tender. Add cream cheese, parmesan cheese and milk. Heat and stir over medium heat until cheeses are melted and mixture is creamy.
Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease an 8 x 8 glass dish. Put 1/2 of hash browns in greased dish, pour 1/2 of milk/cheese mixture over hash browns and sprinkle with nutmeg, 1/2 of cubed ham and 1/2 of shredded cheddar cheese. Now add the rest of hash browns, ham and pour the rest of the milk/cheese mixture. Salt and pepper to taste. Top with the remaining shredded cheese.
Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes, remove foil and continue baking for 15 minutes longer or cheese is desired brownness. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Ham can be substituted with turkey, chicken or roast beef. Great dish for leftover meats.
If fresh potatoes are used instead of hash browns, cook first and then slice thinly, cube or shred. You will need approximately 4 medium potatoes.
