Texas Sheet Cake

what you need
  • CAKE:
  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • FROSTING:
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 6 Tbsp. milk
  • 2 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
make it
Mix margarine, water and cocoa. Bring to a boil over med. heat. Remove from heat and add flour, salt and sugar. Stir to combine. In a separate bowl, mix sour cream, eggs and baking soda. Add to dry ingredients and blend together.

Pour into a greased and floured standard size cookie sheet (or 9 X 18 cake pan) and bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for approx. 25 minutes.

Frost cake while still warm but not hot. For frosting: bring to a boil the margarine, cocoa and milk. Remove from heat and add confectioners' sugar. Add additional milk if necessary to get to desired consistency.

Rated  by annajo01 on 7/29/2008 I BAKED THIS CAKE TO TAKE TO OUR GOOD SAM CLUB CAMPOUT AND IT WAS A GREAT SUCCESS. I ONLY BROUGHT HOME A SMALL STRIP OF CAKE. I PUT IT IN A 9x15 DISH.
