what you need
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 6 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 cup cold water
make it
Preheat to 350 degrees F. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt together well.

Make 3 depressions: small, medium, large. Add vanilla to small hole, vinegar to med and melted butter to the large, pour water over all ingredients, mix well. Pour in greased pan.

Bake for 30-45 min or until toothpick comes out clean. Frost with favorite icing or just a couple of taps of powdered sugar.
Notes
This is a very versatile cake mix. Will make other additions later

I know vinegar, but you can't taste it and you can lick the bowl with no worries.

Rated  by a cook on 10/22/2004 This was wonderful. It was my mother's birthday and I needed to add one more cake to the menu. No one even touched the other cake, this was their favorite and mine!
