what you need
  • 1 boneless top sirloin steak, sliced thin
  • 1/2 small onion, sliced thin
  • 5 fresh mushroom caps, washed and sliced thin
  • 1/2 small bell pepper, sliced thin
  • 4 hoagie buns 6 to 8 inches long*
  • 12 slices Kraft Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. Kraft Tuscan Italian Salad Dressing
  • 1 Tbsp. Natures Seasoning
  • 2 tsp. dry minced garlic (if fresh use only 2 cloves and finely chopped)
  • Spray Pam
make it
Preheat oven to 375°F. Split the buns lengthwise but not all the way thru, place in each bun 2 slices of the Mozzarella cheese where it goes up each side of the bun, set aside.

In a large fry pan, coat evenly with the spray Pam to coat the pan and up the sides. When skillet is fully heated to med-high place the prepared meat in and toss them around as you add the Natures Seasoning, minced garlic, and salad dressing. Turn heat down to med and add the onion, bell pepper and the sliced mushrooms and toss all together real well for approx. 2 minutes.

Set pan off the heat and take the rest of the cheese slices and cut them in half lengthwise. Using tongs, place 1/4 of the meat mixture into each bun that already has the cheese inside, making sure the cheese inside is still split so there will be part of the slice on each side of the bun and you place the meat mixture in then lay 2 of the cheese strips on the top.

Using a 9 x 13 baking pan, set the sandwiches in and make sure they stay upright with the cheese on top. When all 4 sandwiches are made and all placed in the baking pan place the pan into the preheated oven for no more than 5 min -- you just want to melt the cheese on top.
*We like the ones at Wal-Mart in the pick and choose bins, they are longer than most.

It is easier than it appears to be and does not take all that long but great for a hearty hot sandwich to be served for dinner. We pair it up with a light side salad.
