Val's Awesome Goulash

what you need
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 small can mushrooms
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or grated
  • 1 Tbsp. dried parsley
  • 1/2 cup parmesan
  • 1 Tbsp. Italian seasoning
  • Dash red pepper flakes (to taste)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 can (14.5 oz.) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1/2 jar spaghetti sauce (I love Ragu)
  • 1 Tbsp. butter

First brown ground beef and drain, set aside, Add sausage to pan and brown, Do Not Drain. Add onions and saute 5 minutes to develop flavor.

Then add mushrooms and grate in garlic (turn heat to low so the garlic doesn't burn). Add back the ground beef at any point after garlic. As soon as the garlic goes in, add the parsley, parmesan, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt & pepper. Sautee to develop flavor about 2 min.

Then add diced tomatoes and juice. Finally add the vinegars, beef cubes, spaghetti sauce and butter. Simmer very low 2 to 3 hours. Serve with good buttery rigatoni and bread.
All measurements are approximate; I just dump until I think it will be good. Please Do Not taste for at least an hour as the bouillon has to dissolve and the vinegars loose their pungency. I know this is a long recipe but SO worth it. Very easy to put together, just takes a little time.
