Makes: 6 servings Total Time: 2 hr 10 min
Category: Soups/Chilis Sub Category: Chilis

what you need
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15.5 oz.) chili beans in chili gravy
  • 1 can (15.5 oz) pinto beans
  • 1 can (10 oz.) tomatoes with green chilies
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery (1 stalk)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
make it
Brown ground beef in skillet; drain.

In a large pot, combine the cooked beef plus all of the remaining ingredients and bring to a simmer over low heat.

Cook, stirring occasionally, for 2 hours.
I came up with this recipe when I was trying to clone Wendy's Chili. For spicier chili, add 1/2 tsp more black pepper. For much spicier chili, and 1 tsp. black pepper and 1 Tbsp. cayenne pepper (HOT!). For the really strong stomachs, add 5 or 6 sliced jalapeno peppers (HOT! HOT!). I like to put this in the crock-pot for a come-home dinner.
