  • Heavy cream (1 cup)
  • Powdered sugar (2 Tbsp)
  • A metal mixing bowl

However, at your own discretion, you can sub sweeteners like honey and maple syrup in for the sugar and you may want to add vanilla, cinnamon or other flavorings – even liquor for a boozier whipped cream.

How to Make Whipped Cream – Instructions

  1. Keep it chill. Place a metal mixing bowl and metal beaters into the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes. The heavy cream you’re using should be refrigerated as well and not removed until you’re ready to go.
  2. Mix it up. Remove chilled bowl from freezer and pour in heavy cream, set the mixer to low speed, and begin beating until the cream begins to thicken.
  3. Make it sweet. Once the mixture thickens, add powdered sugar (approximately 2 tablespoons of sugar for every cup of cream).
  4. Go high. Increase the speed and mix on high until soft peaks form. Make sure to move the beaters around the bowl, occasionally switching directions to evenly whip the mixture.
  5. End low. Lower speed and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to over-beat as the mixture will turn into butter.
