  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a 9-inch pie plate with 1 pie crust. In a mixing bowl combine sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add sugar mixture to the apples; toss until the apples are coated.
  • Fill crust-lined plate with apple mixture. Slice the tablespoon of butter into 4 or 5 slices, place on top of apples. Cut small holes on top of 2nd crust to let steam escape, place on top of apples. Seal and flute edge.
  • Line edge of pie crust with foil to prevent burning. Bake for 25 minutes, remove foil and bake for another 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool pie before serving.

Notes

I've found Gala apples work the best in this recipe. If you want a less juicy pie, add more flour. For a really juicy pie, omit the flour.
