  • 1. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon onto wax paper.
  • 2. Melt butter in medium size sauce pan. Remove from heat. Beat in sugars, egg, and vanilla with a wooden spoon til smooth.
  • 3. Stir in flour mixture, apple, and walnuts until thoroughly combined. Spread into greased 8x8 square pan. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of the cinnamon sugar mixture (store the rest in air tight container for future use).
  • 4. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool, then cut into bars.

Notes

This favorite fall recipe is easily doubled: Bake in 9 x 13 pan for 35 minutes. Blueberries can be substituted for the apples.
