  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Break off or cut woody ends from asparagus and rinse well. Steam asparagus spears for 4 minutes then remove from heat and rinse well in cold water to stop cooking. Set aside.
  • Lay out bacon on a cookie or jellyroll sheet pan in a single layer and bake for approx. 5 minutes. Turn and bake 1-2 minutes more. The object is to partially cook the bacon so it is workable but not stiff.
  • Cut the asparagus spears into 1" to 1-1/2" pieces and the bacon into approx. 1-1/2" long pieces. Wrap each piece of asparagus with a piece of the bacon and secure with toothpick. Place all in a glass 9x13 baking dish (or similar) with paper towels lining the bottom. Continue until all asparagus/bacon is used. At this point you can cover and store the appetizers in the refrigerator to warm up and serve later.
  • To serve: Reduce or preheat oven to 350 F degrees (depending on whether you are serving them immediately or later), uncover baking dish and bake until heated through, about 10-15 minutes.


After heating, place on a nice serving platter and watch them disappear! These are so simple yet never fail to impress.
