  • Layer a 2-3 quart casserole dish beginning with wafers and alternate with slices of bananas until the casserole dish is filled to the top.
  • In a double boiler mix (beaten) egg yolks, sugar and vanilla and milk stirring constantly until pudding thickens but still pours. When mixture has thickened sufficiently pour entire pudding over vanilla wafers and bananas.
  • Beat egg whites until fluffy add slowly small amounts of 1/4 cups of sugar and a pinch of vanilla until egg whites are nice and thick and fluffy. Spread egg white mixture over bananas and wafers.
  • Place in a 400 degree oven for about 5 minutes or until nice and brown on top. Remove from oven. Let cool for 1/2 hour and serve warm or refrigerate to serve cold.
