  • Soften yeast in 1/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F). In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each. Add yeast, milk, and whiskey. Stir together flour and salt, add to creamed mixture. Beat at medium speed until smooth, about two minutes. By hand or machine, stir in raisins and orange peel. Cover, and let rise in warm place until doubled, about two hours.
  • Meanwhile, prepare 1-1/2 qt. fluted tube pan. Stir down batter, spoon carefully into mold. Let rise to almost doubled, about one hour.
  • Bake at 350°F until done, about 25 minutes. Cool ten minutes in mold before removing.

Special Equipment Needed


Extra egg yolks and butter can be added for richer bread.
