  • 1. Toss berries together in large bowl, add cornstarch and sugar substitute. Coat well.
  • 2. In 9-inch pie plate, add bottom layer of crust, add berry mixture on top, then top crust. Seal the top and bottom all around the edge, and cut vent holes in the top to let the steam out.
  • 3. Bake at 325°F for about an hour until the crust is nice an tan. Serve warm with Velveeta, Cool Whip, whipping cream, or nothing. It is all good.

This has become a family favorite at the holiday meals. Even over pumpkin pie! I like it because the sugar substitute makes it better for our diets, and the kids don't know there is no sugar there anyway. I named it Bruised Pie because one time I only had one bag of each kind of berries, so made it anyway: Black and Blue = Bruised. It does lots of interesting things in the mouth too. Will be savoring the blue berries, and bang, bite into a bit of black berry… they are tarter than the blueberries. I hope you enjoy it.
