Just about any cooked, well drained vegetable can be added to meat mixture if desired. Examples.....carrots, corn, spinach, mushrooms, to name a few.
If preparing meat mixture the night before, I would recommend heating the mixture slightly in microwave before adding it to pastry so that you don't find the meat isn't quite heated thoroughly enough by the time the pastry is browned.
Serve with a nice tossed salad.
