  • Dough: Mix egg with milk and add to flour to make a pliable dough. Roll dough to about 1/8" thick. Cut dough into 6 round or oval pieces.
  • Dumplings:
  • Place 2-3 cherries into each piece, fold in half, and pinch edge together tightly.
  • Cooking:
  • Boil pot of water. Place cherry dumplings into boiling water, 1 at a time. Lightly stir. Boil until dumplings float to top and continue boiling 10 minutes longer.
  • Serve with about 1 teaspoon or tablespoon of melted butter atop.

Special Equipment Needed


You won't believe how easy and delicious these are with no extra seasonings in the cherry filling or the dough. I think my grandmother used fresh, pitted cherries (or plums) to which she added her own sugar and spice. Enjoy!
