  • Bake cake mix as directed. Cool Slightly.
  • In large or medium pan, slowly heat marshmallows, 3/4 milk, and 3/4 cup sugar until sugar is dissolved and marshmallows are melted. Stir in coconut. Pour mixture over baked cake.
  • Same pan, heat 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup milk and butter until mixture boils. Add chocolate chips and stir until melted. Pour over coconut layer.


This cake is truly a dessert cake - RICH, WARM and WONDERFUL. My ex-boyfriends mom used to make it all the time and I had asked her for the recipe many years ago and just now came across it in an old book. I made it the first time for Christmas and gave it away to friends and family who fell in love with it. Next time I'm going to experiment with adding the 2 layers into 1 pan and do it all at once, I imagine it would turn out ok. I think the 2 layers are for visual appeal like the candy bar.
