  • Place flour in a medium bowl. Make well in the center and add egg yolks. Work in with fingers or pastry cutter until well blended. Add sour cream, vanilla, liquor, and salt; blend well again. On lightly floured board, work mixture into smooth dough. Dough SHOULD have tiny air bubbles throughout. You can cover and refrigerate for future use at this point.
  • For immediate use: On a lightly floured board roll out dough to about 1/16". Slice into 1-1/2" strips. Cut strips diagonally into 5/8" lengths. Cut 1" slit lengthwise into the center of each strip. Pull one end of strip back through the slit so strip resembles a bow tie. Repeat.
  • In a large skillet, heat 1" deep vegetable oil or shortening to approximately 375 degrees. Deep fry for less than 1 minute or until golden brown, turning once. Drain on paper towels. Let cool and dust with powdered sugar.
