  • Make patties with the ground chuck. (If you choose to make your burgers larger, use more ground beef.)
  • Fry hamburgers; sear on high heat to cook outside, then turn heat to medium to continue cooking, but leave the doneness on the rare side. Take hamburgers out of skillet and set aside.
  • Take cream of mushroom soup, mushrooms, garlic, salt and pepper to taste into skillet and add water (keep the soup a bit thick). The soup will pick up the flavor of the beef.
  • Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes, then add the burgers and continue to cook over medium-low heat for approx. 20 minutes. Spoon cooking liquid over burgers as they continue to cook.

Special Equipment Needed


Add whatever herbs you choose. Another variation is to put a bit of white wine in the mushroom soup. There are so many ways to jazz this recipe up!
