  • Preheat oven to 400°F. In a large bowl cream butter and sugar with electric mixer. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  • Sift baking powder with flour. Add flour mixture, 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. The dough will be very stiff. Blend in the last of the flour by hand. Do not chill dough. Roll and cut out shapes.
  • Bake 8-10 minutes or until cookies are lightly brown. Remove cookies to cooling grid to cool completely .

Special Equipment Needed


Roll dough on parchment paper and place on cookie sheet or prepare pan by spraying the back of pan with a vegetable oil spray, such as Wilton "bake easy" or by spreading a light coating of solid vegetable shortening. If rolling dough on a pan, lay pan on a dampened kitchen towel to prevent sliding Roll dough to a thickness of 3/8 inch. Cut desire shapes using perimeter cookie cutters, dusted with flour to prevent sticking Remove excess dough. Leave enough space between cookies to allow for spreading and for cookie stick placement.
