  • Boil water as instructed on Jell-O packages. Add to Jell-O and stir until dissolved. DO NOT ADD THE COLD WATER.
  • Add the cranberry sauce and sour cream gradually and beat in with electric mixer until smooth and you can no longer see obvious chunks of cranberry sauce.
  • Add walnuts last and refrigerate for at least four hours. Can be served with a small dollop of sweetened whipped cream.


I have made this recipe using sugar free Jell-O as well as non-fat sour cream but the salad seperates with the non-fat. Regular sour cream works best. For a variation I've also used strawberry/kiwi flavored Jell-O. This recipe has been a favorite at holiday time since I was a girl and it's a favorite of my five children. When the holidays roll around they always make sure it will be included in our menu. **Jell-O sets up fastest when placed in a 9x13-inch pan.
