If you are making this the day before a party you will need to refrigerate the loaf. If this is the case, DO NOT pour the cocktail sauce on top of the loaf yet. When you take the crab loaf out of the refrigerator and you are getting ready to serve it, drain the excess liquid from the dish and wipe the dish with paper towels around the crab loaf to dry it. After the liquid has been drained and the dish dried, you can now pour the rest of the Cocktail Sauce on top of the loaf.
