  • Boil the potatoes, covered with water, in a large saucepan until soft, but not mushy. Drain immediately and mash with a potato masher.
  • Add the onion, cottage cheese, sour cream, salt, and garlic powder. Mash with a mixer until well blended. Add the egg and egg whites, blending well with mixer.
  • Put potato mixture in a well oiled 2 quart casserole. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
