  • Blend together the cream cheese, vanilla and chopped nuts in a small bowl. Slice French bread into 2" thick slices. In another bowl, beat together eggs, milk and nutmeg to taste.
  • Take each slice of French bread and cut a slit in the middle. Stuff about a Tbsp. of the cream cheese mixture in the slit and then dip the bread into the egg mixture, ensuring to coat it thoroughly.
  • Fry on a buttered griddle or frying pan on med-high heat until the egg is set, flipping when one side is brown until both sides are browned. Serve with warmed maple syrup or other type of fruit syrup.

Special Equipment Needed


I used skim milk instead of the higher fat versions, and Neufchatel cheese instead of regular cream cheese. It turned out great!
