  • In large bowl, mix tuna, mayonnaise, onion, and dill weed. Mash tuna well with a fork. Refrigerate for one and one half hours.
  • After refrigeration, pour milk, butter, and cheeses into saucepan over stove burner on low heat. Stir with a wooden spoon until these reach sauce consistency.
  • At the same time, toast hamburger buns open face in oven at 400 degrees for 3 minutes. Remove buns and spoon tuna mixture onto bottom side of buns. Put a slice of tomato on the top sides of the buns, serving open face.
  • In melted sauce, stir in bacon. Pour sauce over tuna mixture with a soup ladle.

Special Equipment Needed

I've loved tuna and cheese ever since I was a kid, and this is a simple recipe for either lunch or dinner. For lunch, I serve it with potato chips. For dinner, I serve it with French fries or a salad. It looks appetizing, is tasty, and filling. My motto is "keep it simple." Limit the number of ingredients you use, so you always have the basics for simple dishes on hand. To me, successful cooking means mastering a certain number of dishes well, and not trying to be a "jack-of-all-trades" in the kitchen.
