  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9" x 13" baking dish with non-stick spray. Layer in order, cake mix-breaking up any lumps, pie filling, coconut, and pecans. If using raisins they may be added after the pie filling.
  • Spooning slowly, or using a baster, drizzle melted margarine all over top of ingredients; try not to have "dry" spots.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until nicely browned. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for a real treat.

Notes

I have been making this quick and easy dessert for 28 years. It is great for potlucks and unexpected company. It can be in the oven in less than 10 minutes-just keep the ingredients on hand. It has become a family favorite. *I find that the whole box of cake mix was too much. I save about 1/2 cup from each time I make the recipe in a zip-type bag in freezer. When I have added about 2 1/2 cups total, I have enough for another dessert. The dry cake mix is also good to make streusel toppings for muffins; just add 1 tablespoon of softened margarine and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
