  • Preheat oven to 350* Combine nuts, sugar, cinnamon and cloves in a bowl. Brush 13x9-inch pan with melted butter. Lay filo sheet in pan (keeping others cover with a damp towel to prevent drying). Brush sheet with butter, add half of filo sheets one at a time buttering each sheet as you go.
  • Top with nut mixture spreading evenly. Then repeat with reaming filo sheets buttering each sheet as you layer them. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, the longer the better.
  • CUT THE BAKLAVA INTO DIAMONDS BEFORE BAKING!! Bake for 35-40 min. till golden brown.
  • For the glaze:
  • In a saucepan combine water, sugar, and lemon zest. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer on low until thick about 15 min or so. Remove the lemon zest and add the lemon juice.
  • When the baklava is done baking, pour the glaze over the baklava evenly. Let cool for 30 min. approx. then re-cut diamonds and serve.
