  • Brown beef/turkey, onion, green pepper and garlic together until meat is done. Drain and place in crock-pot.
  • Add remaining ingredients (except the cooked rice and the toppings) and stir well. Cook on LOW for 5-6 hours.
  • Serve over individual bowls of rice. Add desired toppings. Can also eat with tortilla chips.


This recipe can make a very mild chili that kids will enjoy, or can be spiced up to your own liking. This is a "basic" starter recipe in which the ingredients can really be played around with to create something to your own preference. For example: instead of using the stewed tomatoes, experiment with any other can of flavored tomatoes for a variety of taste. Or if you like it to have a bolder flavor, add some Tabasco sauce. The possibilities are endless. I always serve this with miniature corn bread muffins as well. Also, this can be cooked on the top of the stove in a large saucepan, for about 30 minutes.
