  • In a large bowl, combine sugar, butter, milk, vanilla, and egg; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour, baking powder and salt; mix well. Cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate 1 hour for easy handling.
  • Heat oven to 400ºF. On a lightly floured surface, roll out 1/3 of dough at a time to 1/8-inch thickness. Keep remaining dough refrigerated. Cut with floured 2-inch cookie cutter. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. If desired, sprinkle with sugar.
  • Bake for 5 to 9 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheets. Decorate as desired.

Special Equipment Needed


High Altitude (Above 3,500 feet): Increase flour to 3 cups, plus 2 Tbsp. Make as directed.
